"What you see is what you get" in website-building shortcut is wysiwyg. When I was starting out to be a webmaster, I used wysiwig applications to build my sites. I hated them. So I taught myself how to write HTML code.

Wysiwygs are for lazy people or for those who don’t know HTML. In other words, there is no depth in wysiwygs. They may look good and appealing for their ease of use in the beginning. But as you get to use them more and more, you realize you can’t really do much with them.

So when Manny Villar describes himself as wysiwyg, he could be telling the truth. He has no depth. He has no imagination. He doesn’t spark any inspiration. The fact that he appears in Wowowee to promote himself already tells me the kind of mentality he has. (Watch Loren Legarda, because she’ll do the same thing.)

Oh, by the way, when he says he doesn’t hide behind the accomplishments of his parents (or something to that effect), he’s again telling the truth, because we don’t know his parents from squat. In effect, I don’t know him. All I know is that he hasn’t sufficiently answered the charges brought against him before a Senate ethics committee about the C-5 road controversy.

Besides, Manny Villar acts, walks and talks like a trapo.

So, dear reader, would you want someone like that as President, a wysiwyg? Or would you rather stake your vote on one whose parents we know as pillars of democracy with no blemish of corruption whatsoever?

In one of those videos you can catch in youtube, which I’m featuring below, Revillame had as contestants aspiring comedians. Yet, instead of encouraging or helping them in their careers (doesn’t ABS-CBN like to brandish Revillame as a bleeding heart?), he insults them one by one.

And that’s how Revillame gets his laughter, by insulting his fellow Filipinos. The tragedy is that these contestants will allow themselves to be insulted in the hope that they’ll win huge amounts of moolah. It becomes doubly tragic when they don’t win.

Do the big bosses of ABS-CBN know about this? They would be stupid not to. Do they tolerate it? Of course! Because it earns them huge amounts of moolah as well.

In the aftermath of the infamous Wowowee stampede where over 70 people died, ABS-CBN top brass Charo Concio sought to justify the label that Wowowee was a mendicancy-promoting show by saying that a percentage of Wowowee earnings go to charity. In other words, the ends justify the means. So what if they exploit and insult poor people?

That’s a Machiavellian concept. It also hides the inherent greed of ABS-CBN.

So are they going to get rid of Wowowee and the obnoxious Revillame? Not a chance! It’s easier to ask for the moon.

What ABS-CBN will do is they’ll have Revillame lie low for some time. Then they’ll come up with 30 seconder clips extolling Revillame and/or Wowowee. These will be complete with soft music and highly emotional spiels that are keyed to win the sympathy of their televiewers. ABS-CBN are experts at this.

When all is clear, Revillame will come back. Yet, as sure as the the sun rises everyday, he’ll find himself in trouble again. This is because his arrogance will emerge anew.

Then the cycle will turn again.

There is strong evidence that the “Wilyonaryo” segment in the show, Wowowee, of Aug. 20, last year, was rigged.

So, what else is new from a show that is responsible for the deaths of 70 people in a stampede that Wowowee continues to try to blame on others but themselves?

What’s new from a show that proclaims to the world it is a family-oriented program but continues to feature skimpily-clad women obscenely gyrating on the dance floor? So what, you may ask?

Well, just this: Last Sunday, in the children’s show, “Going Bulilit,” they had a segment that mimicked Wowowee. There was a boy impersonating Willie Revillame. Then there were girls acting as the dancers who were, get this, skimpily clothed! All these children were less than 10 years old!

What else is new from a noontime show that promotes mendicancy and then makes fun of Filipinos who join its contests and have no choice but to be mocked for cash that won’t even be able to feed them for a month?

If Wowowee is found out to have cheated that day, will ABS-CBN shut it down? I doubt it. When money is your god, you don’t know the meaning of shame.
