Gloria the Liar’s back is on the wall. Her son’s being implicated in a jueteng scandal along with her brother-in-law and someone produced audio tapes that suggest she may have cheated in the last elections.

The twin charges above are damning. Yet, even if concrete evidence is produced, how will they help this benighted country of ours? If Gloria the Liar resigns, what alternative do we have?

There’s Noli de Castro, the vice-president. He has his own skeletons in the closet. The only reason why he was elected vice-president is because he was popular, period. Otherwise he is perceived to have used his TV show to aggrandize himself by shaking down would-be “newsmakers.”

A military/civilian junta? Composed and led by whom? This is the only alternative if constitutional processes are thwarted. Yet, this alternative will surely throw our country back into the dark ages.

So the question arises, who is behind this concerted effort to bring down GMA? Is it the opposition? But they’re fractured. Even if they weren’t, what would they gain if Gloria resigns? Noli de Castro would just assume power and we will be worse off.

So a coup d etat is probably in the offing. This is going to flush our country down the ku be ta.

What can we conclude out of all of this? No one is really after our welfare. If ever Gloria is ousted, another crop of the corrupted will take over. So do we retain Gloria? Let’s just say that Filipinos need to fight for instead and be keen on constitutional processes. If constitutional processes will effect a peaceful change of leadership, then so be it. It will keep the next leader accountable.

The key here is not a change of government, but that Filipinos are mature enough not to be bowled over by tactics and schemes outside of the decency of the constitution.
